Q Interactive Has New Owner
Chicago-based marketing firm Q Interactive said Tuesday that it has been sold to an investment bank based in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The deal will make Q Interactive — formerly CoolSavings.com Inc. — an independent subsidiary of Intrepid Investments LLC of St. Thomas. Q Interactive’s previous owner was Landmark Communications Inc. of Norfolk, Va. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Q Interactive will remain in Chicago and Matt Wise, 38, will continue to be its president and CEO. “We plan generally to continue to operate as-is, but we are looking for opportunities to work with our sister companies,” Mr. Wise said. Intrepid Investments owns three other marketing firms: Bristol Interactive LLC, Warwick Interactive LLC and Right Mail Marketing LLC. The sale of Q Interactive is part of Landmark’s strategy to shed some holdings. Landmark, which owns several newspapers, including the Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk, Va., recently announced it was selling Weather.com to NBC Universal for $3.5 billion. Q Interactive, founded in 1995 as Coolsavings, went public in 2000. A year later, Landmark purchased 80% of the firm, which Landmark took private again in 2005. |
